Trouble mas again

Your week begins on Friday

CEDROS villagers are coming back to Port-of-Spain to play mas at this year's Carnival.

In 1970 when the harassed and forgotten people of the far-flung outpost played their mas in town they started a thing which is today known as the February revolution of 1970.

Yes they were the ones who brought stark reality to their mas, and this year once again disgusted at their plight they plan to stage another mas appearance in town.

This time their parish priest Fr. Pascall might be accompanying them. He doesn't know yet.

And do the people of that "Venezuelan village" Cedros have something to complain about.

In the past two weeks the entire village of nearby Icacos has been flooded and nobody has volunteered to help the forgotten children.

In fact, says Fr. Pascall we are indeed as if we are a part of Venezuela where they do a lot of fishing.

And Fr. Pascall was amused to report that Venezuela is fast adopting the Trinidad fishing village.

"Our phones are so bad that we can't get help when we want. The Venezuelans are giving us a wireless set. And more, they are giving us a mini bus."

So it looks like this year Cedros will bring their own brand of mas to Port-of-Spain and who can tell this time they might trigger of another reaction. [as printed]
